The Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is the oldest sovereign wealth fund in the world, having been established as the Kuwait Investment Board in 1953, eight years before Kuwait's independence in 1961. In 1982, Law No. 47 was enacted to transform the Board into the autonomous governmental body KIA, responsible for managing the nation's assets.
